About PECO II

Company History

Over the past 7 decades, PECO II has grown from a small, electronic component manufacturer into a publicly held, telecommunications power equipment and service provider with global reach.

The Power Equipment Company (PECO) was founded in 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, when the primary focus of the business was building transformers and rectifiers for the U.S. market. In 1950, the company was relocated to a new plant in Galion, Ohio. At that time, PECO's major customers were the Western Electric Company and IBM.

In 1960, PECO was acquired by North Electric Company, a subsidiary of LM Ericsson, and its product lines were redesigned and production was re-engineered for efficiency. ITT purchased the company in 1977 and it was renamed in 1981 as ITT Power Systems.

In 1988, PECO II, Inc., a privately held company incorporated in the State of Ohio, purchased the telecommunications product line and associated assets from ITT. To further strengthen the PECO II product offering, strategic acquisitions were made over the following 10 years. Apex Telecommunications Manufacturing Inc. was acquired in 1995 to bolster the fuse and circuit breaker panel product line and the Rack & Stack capabilities. In 1998, EDA Industries was acquired to expand PECO II into software development and monitoring hardware products.

PECO II, Inc. was publicly listed in August 2000 (NASDAQ: PIII), raising $78.3 million to fund an aggressive growth strategy.

During this same period, PECO II, Inc. recreated itself from a traditional wireline power system and service organization into a telecom power solution provider to the wireline, wireless and private network marketplace. In the North American marketplace, PECO II strengthened its position within the Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOC), Interexchange carriers (IXC) and Tier 1 Wireless providers. The continued growth since 2004 is a result of new contracts from our core market, deeper penetration within these markets, as well as a new focus on emerging markets.

In March of 2006, PECO II acquired the North American supply agreements and related inventory for Delta Products' U.S. and Canadian service provider business. The products are marketed, sold and supported by PECO II. Moving forward, the companies will also work jointly in developing next-generation power products and systems for the wireless and wireline telecommunications needs of their customers.

PECO II's production facilities are certified to ISO9001, and the company completed the requirements of the telecommunications TL9000 quality standard in February of 2004.
